From 1983 until 1995, Dr. Patterson was an active member of the Canadian Vision Caravan, a charitable organization providing free eye care to third world countries. Additionally, he also sat on the Quality Assurance Committee of the College of Optometry from 1990 until 1991.
Dr. Patterson was an advisor to the Canadian Examiners Board, which reviews and updates the national optometric licensing examinations. His current practice includes an extensive focus on contact lenses and laser vision correction.
