Eye Diseases & Conditions

Every year, millions of people around the world suffer from eye health problems that can result in a loss of vision and even blindness. Unfortunately, many common eye diseases and eye conditions don't display any symptoms until later stages, at which point it may be too late. That's why it's important to get regular eye exams so that any eye diseases or eye conditions can be detected early on and treatment be made available.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration) is one of the leading causes of vision loss in people 65 years or older, according to Health Canada. AMD involves the breakdown of the macula of the eye, which is responsible for the sharpest part of your vision. A person with AMD may be able to clearly see a calendar on a wall, but the numbers and letters would appear blurred.

That's why it's so important for individuals over the age of 60 to visit their nearest FYidoctors location for regular, complete eye exams.
