FYidoctors Celebrates the <br />Great Glasses Play Day!

Posted on May 17th, 2015

The Great Glasses Play Day is here again! Held on the first weekend of May, this annual event celebrates kids who wear glasses, contacts or patches. It's also the chance to promote awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment of children's vision issues.

The event is entirely volunteer run and non-for-profit, with a number of activities held across North America. Their philosophy is built on four key principles:

  • Support children who wear glasses or who have other vision issues
  • Celebrate advances in eyewear that not only allow children to see more clearly, but also act as a way to express kids’ personalities
  • Educate parents about the importance of early eye exams by an eye care professional
  • Raise awareness of the issues of preventable blindness

Health Canada recommends that children get a regular eye exam at least once a year. Book your child's next eye exam at an FYidoctors near you.
