FYidoctors – Brooks currently offers comprehensive eye exams using their Optomap® Retinal Scanner, a device which offers a full 3D scan of the retina and is capable of detecting diseases that traditional exams might otherwise miss. The clinic also offers contact lens fittings, eye health checks for potential issues and post eye surgery follow up. They're also able to do direct billing to most insurance companies, so Brooks residents can avoid any up front costs.
FYidoctors – Brooks carries a wide range of eyewear products, including Internal Freeform lenses that are customized for each patient's eyes using 3D digital imaging software, offering sharper and more focused vision than traditional lenses. The clinic also offers contact lenses, prescription sunglasses and a wide selection of fashionable frames, with brands including Ray-Ban, Coach, Converse and Maui Jim, among many others.
The clinic is currently run by Doctor Lance Couture, who has over 25 years of experience as an optometrist. A graduate from the University of Waterloo's School of Optometry, Dr. Couture started his career on Vancouver Island before relocating to Brooks to open Driftwood Optical in 1993. Since then he's helped to guide the clinic into becoming a thriving eye care centre serving the people of Brooks.
Dr. Couture is supported in the practice by an experienced team of optometrists that includes Dr. Brayton Kidd, Dr. Robert McLaughlin, Dr. Bunny Virk, Dr. Al-Fazil Karim and Dr. Mark Ross.
The clinic also has five additional staff members, including four optometric assistants and one licensed optician, with 2 other staff members currently in training to become licensed.
FYidoctors – Brooks is actively involved in the local community, including the Better Sight. Better Grades program (which provides complimentary glasses to underprivileged students in the Brooks community), as well as the World Sight Day Challenge (which raises funds and awareness to eye care initiatives around the globe). The clinic has also personally delivered glasses to elderly patients at the local Sunrise Gardens Seniors Home.
FYidoctors – Brooks is a family-oriented practice that prides itself on offering personal patient care. As a part of the community, the staff of this unique location are friends, family and neighbours with the people they help on a daily basis and work to ensure each and every one of their patients sees the world in the best way possible.
