With over 280 locations across Canada, FYidoctors employees are some of the most dedicated and passionate eye care professionals working in the industry. Meet the people who make us who we are.
What’s your current role with FYidoctors?
I am currently the Regional Coach for the provinces of Ontario and Manitoba. That means I get to work with local FYidoctors clinics to help ensure we're always delivering the best possible experience for our patients.
What is it that made you want to work in eye care?
I would say it found me actually. My family has been in the eye care business since I was a child, so it was only natural that I started working in an Optical store in my teens. I left the eye care industry around 2006, but before you know it, here I was right back managing an optometry clinic in New Westminster in 2009. That clinic had just recently joined FYidoctors and, well, the rest is history, as here I am contributing to the success of this great company as a regional coach.
What do you love most about your job?
All the great people I get to meet and work with every day. I'm truly surrounded by awesome human beings, and to have the privilege of supporting and coaching them in any way I can is just the icing on the cake.
What’s one of the most challenging parts of your job?
Time management! My job as a regional coach involves lots of travel and that can sometimes take its toll on you. Don’t get me wrong, I actually love that part of my job, but you have to take a step back every once and a while to make sure you find balance between work and your personal life.
What’s one of your favourite moments from working at FYidoctors?
There have been so many favourite moments over the years. From the time when I was managing an FYidoctors office to spending a year travelling training our clinics’ staff and doctors across Canada on our software program to now being a regional coach. Every position and adventure along the way has contributed to my own personal growth in such a positive way that I couldn't possibly choose just one moment.
What do you love most about where you work?
Definitely coaching. There's so much personal and professional growth that I get to witness and be part of day in and day out. Coaching is an amazing journey that I truly hope will never end.
What’s the most important thing people should know about their eye health?
There is so much more to an eye exam than just a prescription for eyewear. Many common eye diseases don’t have symptoms but have treatment options if caught early on, so the key here is to be proactive and see an optometrist regularly. Let’s not forget that there are also so many other health issues that can be detected with a comprehensive eye exam like diabetes, HBP, cancer and other conditions.
What do you see in the future for FYidoctors?
It's a great company to work for. I truly think FYidoctors will be leading the evolution of eye care.
