FYidoctors Whistler is uniquely situated in a mountain village, steps away from the Whistler Blackcomb mountain ski resort in British Columbia. Naturally, they specialize in sports vision. Their community relies on them for prescription goggles and athletic glasses all year round.
Dr. Karen Smith started the Whistler Eye Clinic over 30 years ago, before joining FYidoctors in 2015. Her commitment over the last three decades is shared by her team of optometrists. Dr. Shea Colpitts joined in 2002 as partner, followed by Dr. Cindy Wagner in 2005, and recently Dr. Mitchell Bennett in 2020.
“We are a group who take care of one another—sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry but always feel like we have one another's backs,” said Dr. Colpitts.
They offer a wide range of specialty services including children's vision, binocular vision and concussion, as well as ocular health. Staff members are highly educated and trained. Whistler clinic is home to three doctors of optometry, two licensed opticians, and one COA (certified optometric assistant).
In their free time the staff loves the Canadian outdoors. They are skilled mountain bikers, skiers, snowboarders and hikers. They also play their part in supporting communities locally and around the world!
Outside of office hours this dedicated team helps blind skiers experience the Whistler mountains through the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program, and they’re involved in BC Guide Dogs, the Foodbank, and TWECS Third World Eye Care Society. Dr. Colpitts and Dr. Wagnery have opened their hearts internationally as well, offering eye care and glasses to those who need them in Senegal, Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Mexico, Tanzania.
They are a caring and passionate team, who’s core goal is to provide excellent patient care and services to their close-knit community.
