Frequently asked questions
No. A referral is not required to book an eye exam or consultation with an FYidoctors optometrist.
Appointments can be booked online, by phone, or directly with your local clinic.
Some clinics may be able to accommodate walk-in appointments, particularly for urgent eye concerns. However, availability varies by location and demand. Contact the clinic beforehand to be sure. For extra convenience, an appointment in advance is recommended.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact your clinic directly by phone or email. We recommend providing at least 24 hours' notice whenever possible.
A comprehensive eye exam typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on your individual eye health needs and any additional testing required.
Please bring:
- Your health card (if applicable in your province)
- Any vision or health insurance information
- Your current glasses and/or contact lenses
- A list of medications you are taking
- Sunglasses if dilation has been recommended If your eyes will be dilated during the exam, your clinic will advise you in advance.
- Depending on the effects of dilation, you may wish to arrange transportation home.
