Meet Our Optometrists

Craig Meckelborg

"Dr. Craig" as he is known, graduated in 1993 from the University of Waterloo with his Doctorate in Optometry. His training as an eye doctor took him to a Kaiser Permanente Hospital near Washington D.C. where he was trained in therapeutic management of ocular disease. Upon returning to Canada he practiced for 6 years to enhance his skills in pediatrics, contact lens management, institutional care and general family eye care. He then opened InVision EyeCare with Dr. Renchko in 1999.
He has served on council for the Alberta Association of Optometrists, is involved in the Knights of Columbus, has been on various product advisory panels. In 2009, InVision EyeCare joined Fyidoctors and Dr. Craig is currently on the Board or Directors.

Between his functions as an Optometrist, a father, cycling and practicing karate, Dr. Craig recognizes that work towards offering great patient care is of great importance. Dr. Craig looks forward to seeing you as both a new and returning patient.

Colleen Renchko

A native Calgarian, Dr. Renchko attended the University of Calgary and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1989. She was attracted to the health care field and felt that the technical precision of optometry and the exposure it provides to a wide variety of people would make it a rewarding profession. Dr. Renchko went on to study optometry at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. During her time at Pacific University, she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honour Fraternity for high academic achievement. She spent a four month externship in Hawaii at Hickam Air Force Base focusing on full scope optometric care. Dr. Renchko also spent the summers at the Gimbel Eye Centre in Calgary working in the cataract and refractive surgery clinics gaining valuable clinical experience. She received the Vistakon Award of Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care and received her Doctor of Optometry in 1993.

Dr. Renchko considers her relationship with her patients to be the most rewarding part of her practice and uses her knowledge, skills, and the most current medical technology to provide optimal eye care to her patients. She believes in the importance of listening to patient concerns to best address their needs. She provides full scope optometric services to patients of all ages and has a special interest in family eye care, including pediatric eye exams, contact lens fitting, and surgical co-management.

Dr. Renchko feels very fortunate that she is able to balance the demands of her profession with her strong commitment to her close-knit family. Dr. Renchko finds her greatest joy in her family - her husband Martin and her three boys. The entire family is focused on healthy living. Together, they enjoy many family activities including: skiing (both downhill and x-country), hiking, biking, and travelling.

Dr. Renchko is a member of the Calgary Society of Optometrists, the Alberta Association of Optometrists, and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.

Don Meckelborg

Dr. Don as most patients know him, graduated in 1995, from the University of Waterloo with his Doctorate in Optometry. As part of his training he spent time in an ophthalmology referral centre in Baltimore Maryland. He has worked extensively in both the refractive surgery field at two prominent refractive surgery centers as well as in private practice. He was then able to take this expertise and teach at the Optometry School in Auckland, New Zealand.

Dr. Don returned to his home town of Calgary and joined in practice with his brother and Dr Renchko in 2003. He has served as a council member on the Alberta College of Optometrist and various committees and advisory panels.

Dr. Don enjoys travelling with his wife and two girls. Providing an exceptional patient care experience through caring and compassion with leading edge products and services has been the priority throughout practice and has been enhanced by joining FYidoctors in 2009. It continues to be very rewarding for Dr. Don serving his community and he especially enjoys making a child's first eye exam fun. He looks forward to seeing you and your family for many years to come.
