Meet Our Optometrists

Lyle Myrfield
Dr. Lyle Myrfield, Coastal Eyecare Centre's senior partner, came to the Comox Valley in 1982 after graduating from the University of Waterloo. He purchased the existing practice which was established in 1948. Together, with his wife Cheryl, they have raised four children and in doing so have been involved in a variety of community and youth organizations.
Dr. Myrfield was born and raised in Port Alberni and enjoys spending time there on Sproat Lake. He also enjoys cycling, hockey and boating. He is very active in the community and has been a long time member of the Courtenay Rotary Club, of which he is past president.
His love of Optometry began at the early age of two when he first required vision care. Dr. Myrfield welcomes new patients of all ages and especially enjoys providing vision care to seniors.

 

Elaine Kerr
Dr. Elaine Kerr graduated top of her class from the University of Waterloo Optometry School and joined Dr. Myrfield at the Comox Valley Optometry Clinic in 1991 where became a full partner in 1995.
Dr. Kerr has volunteered with Search and Rescue, Bicycle Safety committee and the council of the BC Association of Optometrists. Currently, she is Chair of the BCAO's Public Relations Committee. Dr. Kerr is also the recipient of the 2008 Optometrist of the year award for her long and dedicated service to optometry in B.C. and Canada.
Dr. Kerr's love of Optometry and travel has led her to volunteer her services in third world eyecare projects in Central and South America.
Dr. Kerr and her husband Trevor live in Comox and enjoy spending time with their son, kayaking, cycling, competing in triathalons and traveling.
Dr. Kerr welcomes new patients of all ages and loves working with children.    
Tanya Flood
Dr. Tanya Flood is an award-winning graduate from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Flood graduated in 1998 as a Doctor of Optometry and in 1999 with a Masters degree in Vision Research. After graduation she brought her passion for eye care to Coastal Eyecare Centres and soon became an owner of both locations.
In addition to having served on the Board of Directors for CNIB British Columbia and various professional committees, Dr. Flood has served as the Chair of the Board of Examiners in Optometry, the governing body of Optometry in B.C. and is also the recipient of the prestigious Presidents Award for her service to the profession of Optometry. Dr. Flood also volunteers her eye care services to children in remote areas and to seniors in North Island care facilities.
Dr. Flood and her husband Chris enjoy living in Campbell River, raising their three children and are very active in the community.
Dr. Flood welcomes new patients of all ages and is always happy to see patients in either of our clinics. 
Meagan Saccucci

Dr. Saccucci grew up in Alberta and received her Bachelor of Science from the Unviversity of Lethbridge in 2002 and then Dr. Saccucci received her Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2006.  After graduation, she and her husband Travis moved to the Comox Valley, his home town.  She began working with the doctors at FYi Doctors Comox Valley (formerly Coastal Eyecare Centres) in the fall 2006.  Combining her passion for optometry and patient education she volunteers with new parent groups and preschools around the Comox Valley, discussing the importance of children’s eye exams. Dr. Saccucci has been a guest speaker, educating the public on the effect of diabetes on their eyes as well as other eye health conditions as we age.

Dr. Saccucci has volunteered on the BCAO’s Public Relations committee and travelled abroad to provide eye care in Colima, Mexico.

Dr. Saccucci and her husband Travis are raising their two sons in the Comox Valley where they love outdoor activities as well as strong community spirit. 

 

Jeff Ferron
Dr. Jeff Ferron graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1999 with an Honours Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degree. After graduation Dr. Ferron practiced in the interior for a year and then Ajax, Ontario; however, the lure of beautiful B.C. was too strong and he joined Coastal Eyecare Centres in 2001. He then became a co-owner in June 2004.
Dr. Ferron is very active in the community in many sports clubs and in his local church. He and his wife Sarah live in Campbell River and enjoy spending time with their three children. They enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing and water-skiing when time permits! 
Dr. Ferron also sits on the board of directors of Christian Life Fellowship and Christian Life Children’s Center, as well as the Campbell River Watershed Committee.
Dr. Ferron enjoys the variety of a full scope practice and is always happy to meet new patients.  
Philip Seitz

Dr. Philip Seitz grew up in Saskatchewan and Alberta where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, with a minor in Psychology at Mount Royal University. Following his undergraduate studies he began seeking warmer climates and has since lived in South Africa, Florida and California where he received his Doctorate at the Southern California College of Optometry. Through his travels he has developed a great love for the outdoors and the lure of Island life brought him and his family here to stay.

He enjoys skiing, hockey, wakeboarding and spending time outdoors with his wife, Bryn and his two daughters. 

He is also very involved in the Scouting Community, where has served as a Scout leader for many years. Dr. Seitz has a passion for technology and has enjoyed a memorable work history at Apple Computers and developing mobile software. He has a special interest in ocular disease, vision therapy and speciality contact lenses and enjoys meeting patients of all ages at both the Campbell River and Courtenay Clinics.

Danielle Campbell

Dr. Danielle Campbell was raised in the Comox Valley.  She attended the University of Victoria and graduated with a degree in Microbiology. Wishing to stay on the west coast Dr. Campbell continued her studies at Pacific University College of Optometry, obtaining her Doctor of Optometry with distinction as well as Master of Education in Visual Function and Learning.

 

When not spending time with patients, Dr. Campbell can be found exploring all our communities have to offer. You may find her on the mountain bike trails trying to be the rider her bike deserves, enjoying the ocean in her kayak, or escaping to the mountains to downhill and skate ski in the winter.

 

Dr. Campbell enjoys providing comprehensive optometric care, including the treatment and management of ocular disease and fitting contact lenses. She has special interests in pediatrics eye care, binocular vision (vision therapy), post brain injury treatment, and ocular disease. Dr. Campbell is excited to return home to the Island and looks forward to welcoming new patients at both our Campbell River and Comox Valley locations.
