Dr. Timothy Skwarok was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in biological sciences, then furthered his education at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA to earn his Doctorate in Optometry.
During his studies, Dr. Skwarok completed clinical training at the Eye Centers of South Florida in Miami, concentrating on pre and post-op examinations as well as observation of surgical procedures including cataract surgery, LASIK, and PRK.
In addition, he completed an externship at the Lynn Community Health Center in Massachusetts, where he provided primary eye care in a predominantly non-English speaking and underserved population. He had the privilege of training at the Providence VA Medical Center in Rhode Island, focusing on the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
During his time in optometry school, Dr. Skwarok participated in pediatric vision screenings at elementary schools and head start programs within the Boston area to support an initiative that provided adequate eye care for all school age children. Dr. Skwarok has a strong interest in pediatric optometry and the relationship between ocular manifestations and systemic disease. He prides himself on using thorough patient education and the latest technology to foster the practice of preventative medicine.
Dr. Skwarok is a member the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Alberta Association of Optometrists and the Edmonton Society of Optometrists. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Skwarok enjoys hiking, traveling, skiing, playing guitar, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He is currently accepting new patients of all ages.
