Dr. Stephen Malec graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 1992. He joined Central Optometric Group after graduation. Dr. Malec enjoys all facets of eye care but has a particular interest in contact lenses. Dr. Malec currently sits on the Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists Mediation Committee.
When not at work Dr. Malec enjoys outdoor recreation and and travelling with his wife and two daughters.
Dr. Carolyn Haugen was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She left to further her education and received her Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Biology, from the Augustana University. Dr. Haugen then went on to receive her Optometry Degree from the University of Waterloo in 2000. She returned to Prince Albert, thereafter, where she now continues to practice with her three partners and 16 incredible staff members.
Dr. Haugen enjoys practicing full scope, family Optometry with a special interest in Pediatrics and early detection and prevention of eye disease. It is her pleasure to be able to offer eye examinations in both French and English.
Central Optometric Group offers the most current instrumentation and technology, including OCT and optomap®. These are instrumental in the early detection and diagnosis of eye disease.
Dr. Haugen is proud to be a part of such a great team!
Outside of work Dr. Haugen enjoys family time with her husband, Joel, and their three children, Sophie, Damien and Noah. They enjoy spending time at the lake in the summer and snowmobiling, skating and sledding during the winter months.
Dr. Lacey was born and raised in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. She continued her education at the University of Saskatchewan obtaining her honours degree Physiology in 2001. Further education continued at the University of Waterloo where she completed her Doctorate of Optometry with honors in 2005. During her schooling she obtained experience in private practice optometry in Yorkton, Sk and with Omni Eye Specialists in Baltimore Maryland where the focus was on treating and managing ocular disease.
Upon graduating, she happily returned to Saskatchewan and settled in Prince Albert. Dr. Lacey enjoys all aspects of optometry with special interest in children's vision care, visual therapy and senior's eye care.
In her personal time, Dr. Lacey spends her time with her husband and two children. They enjoy travelling and spending time outdoors at the many beautiful lakes around Prince Albert.
Dr. Lacey gladly welcomes new patients at both the Prince Albert clinic and at their satellite clinic in Wakaw, Sk. She looks forward to serving the people of Prince Albert and area for many years to come.
