Dr. Kristen Fink grew up on a dairy/grain farm near Montmartre, Saskatchewan, which is a small town of 500, located 1 hour southeast of Regina. Upon graduating from Montmartre High School, Dr. Fink did her pre-optometry courses at the University of Regina. She then completed her optometry degree at the University of Waterloo. After spending 4 years in Ontario, Dr. Fink realized she is really a small town Saskatchewan girl at heart, and so she decided to come back to Saskatchewan and practice in Prince Albert, Melfort, and La Ronge.
Dr. Fink makes her home now in Prince Albert. Living in such close proximity to the northern lakes and forests is perfect, as she loves any sort of outdoor activity. She also enjoys playing a variety of individual and team sports, especially snowboarding. She has a special interest in travelling and exploring other cultures, and is happy that optometry can offer her the chance to take advantage of this interest.
Dr. Erin MacDonald was born in Sudbury, Ontario. She lived in London and Sarnia, Ontario before her family moved to Edmonton when she was 7 years old. Dr. MacDonald grew up in Edmonton and went to the University of Alberta where she majored in Science and minored in Business.
Dr. MacDonald started her optometry degree at the University of Waterloo in 1997. In 1998 she met her husband, Trent Miller, who was also in the same program. One month after she obtained her Doctor of Optometry in 2001, she married Trent in Edmonton.
Dr. MacDonald then moved to Prince Albert and has been practicing with Drs. Degelman and Miller since August of 2001.
She is always busy with her 2 young boys and enjoys spending time with them, especially at the lake. She enjoys yoga, walking, skiing, cross-country skiing, crocheting and painting.
Dr. Tim Degelman was born and raised in Melfort, Saskatchewan. After completing his grade 12 at Melfort Comprehensive High School he moved to Saskatoon and obtained a B.Sc in Anatomy at the University of Saskatchewan. After 4 more years in Waterloo, Ontario he returned to Saskatchewan in 1992 with a Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Waterloo.
His clinical career began with his father in Melfort, but soon expanded to offices in Prince Albert, Saskatoon and La Ronge. Dr. Degelman served on the council for the Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists for 6 years and had roles as Negotiations Chair and College Registrar. Dr. Degelman was one of the original founders of FYidoctors and has sat on the FYi Board of Directors since its formation.
Dr. Degelman is married to Dr. Paula Landgraf Degelman (Chiropractor) and has 2 children, Brock and Dane. He has interests in business, general contracting, golf, hockey, swimming, travel and spending time at Waskesiu Lake with family and friends.
Dr. Trent Miller was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. After completing high school, he spent 4 years at the University of Regina where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Thereafter, he spent 4 years studying optometry at the University of Waterloo in Ontario. Shortly after graduation in 2000, Dr. Miller moved back to his home province of Saskatchewan and settled into practice at Prince Albert Vision Centre, now FYidoctors Prince Albert. His wife and fellow optometrist, Erin MacDonald, joined him in Prince Albert in 2001 where they’ve practiced ever since.
When he’s not working, Dr. Miller enjoys photography, gardening, music, and spending time with his wife and two sons, especially outdoors and at the beautiful nearby lakes.
