Dr. Gaucher received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 1981. He became Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents Certified following post graduate training through Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1993.
Dr. Gaucher has been a partner in FYidoctors since 1983. In addition to his Regina practice, he also provides optometric service to the town of Moosomin which is located about 225 kilometers east of Regina on the Trans-Canada highway.
Dr. Gaucher enjoys providing all aspects of full scope optometric care but has special interest in the areas of specialty contact lens applications, (laser) refractive surgery, and drug treatment of eye disorders.
Dr. Gaucher has served the Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists in numerous capacities, and is past-president of the Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists as well as is a current member on the Board of Directors of Horizon Laser Vision Center. Dr. Gaucher also serves on the Optometry Advisory Board of Alcon Canada.
Dr. Hunter is a graduate of the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo,Ont. and received his certification in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents in 1993 from Northeastern State University, College of Optometry, Tahlequah,Oklahoma.
Dr. Hunter has been a partner at FYidoctors since its inception and enjoys all aspects of primary optometric care.
Dr. Hunter maintains a keen interest in contact lens therapy, refractive surgery (laser) and therapeutic treatment services.
Dr. Hunter also enjoys a variety of activities in the community of Regina and is an active supporter of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club. He is also a member of the Wascana Golf and Country Club and has served on the committees for the Grey Cup and the World Curling Championships.
Dr. Hunter is a yoga instructor and enjoys ballroom dancing, rollerblading, skiing, traveling as well as the theatre and arts.
Dr. Kelly Morrell, originally from Regina, graduated from Oregon’s Pacific University in 2009. While studying, she volunteered in the community, including ocean clean-up and reading with elementary students in Spanish and English, and was a member of the Optometry admissions team. Her training involved internships at a Veterans hospital in Roseburg, Oregon, and with the Washington State School for the Blind. She was honoured at graduation with the Private Practice Award for clinical proficiency and academics.
Returning home, after working for three years in the Edmonton area, Dr. Morrell is very proud to join the established team at FYidoctors Regina Grasslands. During her leisure time, she enjoys camping, rollerblading, and astronomy. At work she enjoys educating patients on the importance of eye health and has a special interest in surgical co-management and ocular disease. She is accepting patients of all ages and looks forward to meeting you.
Dr. Blanche Nobert obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo in 1986. During her studies, Dr. Nobert was named to the Dean's Honours List in Science for four consecutive years and was the recipient of the Contact Lens Society Prize in her graduating year.
Dr. Nobert has been serving the eye care needs in the Regina area since 1986. She also uses her education, experience and excellent clinical skills with the CNIB at the Pasqua Hospital's Low Vision Clinic.
Dr.Nobert practices at FYidoctors in Regina as well as Carlyle and Fort Qu’Appelle Sk.
Dr. Nobert's primary areas of interest are contact lenses, children's eye care, as well as cataract and laser surgery co-management. She enjoys providing complete family eye care, sees patients of all ages, and reminds parents to have their child's eyes examined by age 3.
Dr. Pontikes returned home to Regina after graduating from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry in May 1989. She received her therapeutic pharmaceutical designation from Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Oklahoma in 1993 and remains a member of Optometry’s academic fraternity - Beta Sigma Kappa.
Dr. Pontikes has maintained a particular interest in general family optometry although she enjoys all aspects of an optometric practice and the opportunities presented by it’s ever changing scope.
Dr. Pontikes practices at FYidoctors in Regina as well as the Carlyle office. Since returning to Regina, Dr. Pontikes has taken an active role in her commitment to community activities, as she believes that it is a vital aspect of her profession.
The various community activities are the YWCA’s Women of Distinction Awards committee and presenting high school and university students the opportunity of discussing both their curriculum and career choices.
Dr.Pontikes enjoys reading, taking long walks and of course, being a true Regina citizen, cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders!!
Michael Ross is a graduate from the University of Alberta, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA), Fellow of the Certified Management Accountants (FCMA), Certified Management Consultant (CMC), Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR - retired) and Institute of Corporate Directors certified (ICD.D).
Mr. Ross retired as CEO of Conroy Ross Partners in 2012. As an Ernst Young Partner he held many roles including National Managing Partner (Canada) of middle market and entrepreneurial consulting.
In addition to sitting on the FYidoctors Board of Directors, Mr. Ross also sits on Boards for Fountain Tire, Frac Shack Inc., Norseman Group Ltd., G2 Integrated Solutions (Systems Integrity Management Solutions, Inc. - Houston, TX) and the University of Alberta.
Dr. Douglas Turnbull graduated from the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo, in 1978 and was awarded with the Percy Hermant prize for general proficiency. Dr. Turnbull practiced optometry in Brantford, Ontario for two years before joining CityView Optometry in 1980.
Dr. Turnbull has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1983 and obtained his therapeutic pharmaceutical designation from Northeastern State University College of Optometry in 1993.
Combining an interest of computer sciences and the publishing arts, Dr. Turnbull has been editor of the Newsletter of the Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists for nine years. Dr. Turnbull has been a member of the National Council of the CNIB for nine years and is a member of the Regina Maple Leaf Lions Club.
In addition to working at Fyidoctors in Regina, Dr. Turnbull also practices at the Carlyle office, as well as part time at the Sight Enhancement Centre at the Pasqua Hospital. In addition to general optometry, Dr. Turnbull has a special interest in contact lenses, visual rehabilitation of the partially sighted as well as pre/post-operative refractive surgery care.
Dr. Stefanie Yea was born and raised in Regina. After graduating high school from Sheldon-Williams Collegiate, she attended the University of Saskatchewan and obtained a Bachelor of Science Three-Year degree in Physiology in 2006. She then went on to study at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. Her training included a four month externship in Huntsville Alabama to learn about ocular diseases and therapeutics. She received her Doctor of Optometry in 2010 and was the recipient of the College of Optometrists of Ontario General Proficiency Medal for having the highest academic standing.
Dr.Yea enjoys dancing, photography, and spending time with family and friends. In the past Dr.Yea was heavily involved in the dance community in Regina, competing and performing throughout the province.

Dr.Yea is proud to be the newest member of FYidoctors. She takes pleasure in providing a full scope of optometric services with special interests in contact lenses, children's vision, and the management of ocular disease.
Dr. Noah Plosker grew up in Regina and studied molecular and cellular biology at the University of Regina. After three years of study, he was accepted to the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. He later graduated with honours in 2016. During his training, Dr. Plosker participated in a mission trip to Peru with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, providing vision care to those otherwise without access. In his final year of schooling, Dr. Plosker completed two primary care internships in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and an ocular disease and therapeutics externship at Parkland hospital in Dallas, Texas. He enjoys providing all aspects of primary care optometry including contact lenses, pediatric eye care, and prevention and management of ocular diseases.
In his spare time, Dr. Plosker enjoys mountain skiing and camping, as well as playing drums, saxophone, and most recently, the guitar.
Dr. Plosker is thrilled to be joining the established team at FYidoctors Grasslands, as well as in Whitewood and Moosomin.
Dr. Melissa Vass was born and raised in Regina. She began her studies in biology at the University of Regina and later attended the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. During her ocular disease and therapeutics externship she trained for four months at Houston Eye Associates in Texas. She also had the opportunity to volunteer on an eye care mission in Ecuador, South America. Dr. Vass graduated in 2014 receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree with Honours.
After practicing for over two and a half years in South-Eastern Saskatchewan, Dr. Vass is excited to return to her hometown of Regina and is pleased to join the practice of FYidoctors Grasslands, as well as Whitewood and Moosomin. Dr. Vass provides the full spectrum of eye care, including contact lens fitting, laser refractive surgery co-management, children’s vision care, and management of ocular disease and its role in systemic health conditions. She places an emphasis on patient education. Dr. Vass welcomes all new and current patients and enjoys seeing patients of all ages.
While growing up, Dr. Vass was involved in piano, dance, and community service. In her free time, she enjoys being involved in community volunteering, dragon boating, taekwondo, playing volleyball, cross-country skiing, jogging in Wascana Park, camping, and spending time with family and friends.
