Dr. James Holmes earned his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in 1974. He went on to complete a post-doctorate residency with a major emphasis on pediatric vision, during which he taught at the School of Optometry and led a mobile unit team to examine indigenous children throughout Ontario. After completing the program, he received his TPA from the Northeastern State University in Oklahoma and served as a Quality Assurance Assessor for the Ontario College of Optometrists for 10 years.
Dr. Holmes now enjoys serving patients of all ages in Prescott. He’s had an incredibly rewarding career in optometry, his accolades including but certainly not limited to the OAO Community Service and Children Vision Award, the highly coveted Kiwanis Mel Osborne (Legion of Honour) Award for 30 years of service and the Senior Citizen of the Year Award in Augusta Township.
When Dr. Holmes isn’t working, you can often find him outdoors diving, camping, hunting, fishing or working on his 1941 Chevy truck. He spends as much time as possible with his wife Jackie, two daughters, three grandchildren and rescue dog Benson. Dr. Holmes is also an active supporter of Cycle for Sight, the Shakespeare Festival and Ducks Unlimited, among others.
