Dr. Ryan Pietrzakowski is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry and has been practicing in both Sault Ste. Marie and Blind River since 2016. Prior to studying optometry in Chicago, Ryan completed his Bachelor of Biology at Algoma University. He provides general comprehensive evaluations for all of the friendly residents of our area, can fit specialty contact lenses, and is interested in the diagnosis and management anterior segment conditions (dry eyes, corneal abrasions, foreign body removal) as well as pediatric evaluations.
Coming from a family of teachers, he had heard about the academic challenges associated with visual issues even prior to entering the field of optometry. These visual challenges can often be corrected and in some instances even permanently reversed. One of Dr. Pietrzakowski’s favourite aspects of his job is checking in with young students at follow-up appointments and hearing how well they are now doing at school following the treatment of a previously undetected visual limitation.
If Ryan is not at work, he will probably be found either fly fishing in the St. Mary’s River, or hiking and cross-country skiing in one of Algoma's many scenic trail systems, with his wife.
