Meet Our Optometrists
Dr. Ashala Mah is very excited to be with FYidoctors! Dr. Mah graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology, then completed her Doctorate of Optometry (with Distinction) at the University of Waterloo.
Dr. Mah completed a clinical internship in Tampa Bay, Florida, where she worked with Retinal Specialists and Ophthalmologists, gaining valuable experience with a variety of ocular diseases. In her last year of school, Dr. Mah was awarded the FYidoctors Practice Excellence Award, and given the opportunity to attend an American Academy of Optometry meeting in Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Mah is passionate about providing quality eye care. She has volunteered in Romania on a mission trip with the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) group, and hopes to do more mission trips in the future. During her time in Optometry school, Dr. Mah became involved with her community, providing vision screenings and speaking about diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Mah is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometry and the British Columbia Association of Optometry. Dr. Mah is currently accepting new patients.
Dr. Errin Bligh first attended the University of Western Ontario in London, ON where she studied Genetics and graduated with Honours. However, as a child she visited optometry offices every 6 months after receiving her first pair of glasses in grade 3. Her high prescription led her to pursue LASIK surgery in 2008, which corrected her near-sightedness. This inspired her to find her true passion in eye care and she was accepted into the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Waterloo, graduating with Excellence in 2014. Dr. Bligh was also the recipient of the A.W. Cole Award for Clinical Excellence, as well as class valedictorian and was featured in Women in Optometry magazine as a “Top Grad” in North America. She completed her training in Mobile, Alabama, working closely with ophthalmologists specialized in retina, neuro-ophthalmology, and oculo-plastics.
Providing thorough and sincere care to patients of all ages is Dr. Bligh’s primary objective. She loves working with children and was honoured to receive the Good-Lite Pediatric Optometry Award in 2014. She is also happy to accept patients with special needs. Dr. Bligh is a firm believer in outreach, and was Vice President of the Waterloo chapter of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) while studying at the University of Waterloo, with whom she travelled to Ecuador to provide eye care to a less privileged community. In her spare time, Dr. Bligh enjoys art, theatre, and travelling.
