FYidoctors eye exam FAQs
1. How much does an eye exam cost?
Pricing may vary by clinics and many eye exams are fully or partially covered by insurance or provincial plans. We’ll confirm your coverage before your visit to avoid surprises.
2. How long does an eye exam take?
A full comprehensive exam takes about 45 minutes.
3. What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of medications, your insurance information, and any relevant health history. If anything else is required, our team will be in contact with you.
4. What happens during the exam?
You’ll start with a personalized pre-test using various diagnostic equipment. This may include an ultra-wide eye scan, OCT, Retinal Scans, Field tests or other tests based on your needs. This will be followed by a full exam from your optometrist to discuss your complete eye health.
5. Will my eyes be dilated? Can I still drive?
Dilation may be part of your exam, depending on your assessment. In many cases, dilation is not necessary due to our latest ultra-wide scan technology. If it is required, expect light sensitivity and blurry vision for 4–6 hours. Bring sunglasses—polarized if possible—and avoid driving immediately afterward.
6. What can I expect after the exam?
You may receive a new prescription, care recommendations, or a follow-up plan. We’re always here to answer any questions you many have and help keep your eyes healthy.
