Nish Rajani

Nish Rajani

Dr. Nish Rajani completed his undergraduate studies at the University of New Brunswick majoring in Biology and obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 1995 where he was the recipient of the KW Optical Company Award for his academic performance. Dr. Rajani has lectured extensively in Canada and the United States in the areas of contacts lenses, laser vision correction, ocular disease and practice management. He has been a clinical and business consultant to various leading ophthalmic and pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer, CIBA, Novartis, Sanofi, Roche, Allergan and Zeiss Instruments. Dr. Rajani has appeared on Canada AM, Global TV, Breakfast Television and in The Toronto Star, Globe & Mail, Toronto SUN, Review of Optometry, Optometric Management, and Chatelaine. He is on the Board of the Ontario Association of Optometrists where he serves on the executive committee as Treasurer. One of his proudest contributions as part of the Association is as a key organizer of their annual general meeting which is the largest educational meeting in Canada for optometrists. Karen Cobean

Karen Cobean

Dr. Karen Cobean began her undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo in 1989 at which time she was awarded several entrance scholarships, including the Canadian Federation of University Women's Club Scholarship. She graduated with honors from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and received the prestigious Cole Award for clinical excellence and the Bausch and Lomb Award for proficiency in contact lenses. Dr. Cobean began her professional career at the North Bay Eye Clinic in association with Drs. Kenneth Kesty and Cynthia Bullen, ophthalmologists. Here, she participated in all aspects of primary and therapeutic eye care including the medical co-management of ocular diseases, pre- and post-operative patient care, contact lenses and comprehensive eye health and vision examinations. She continued to provide these services in Toronto at a group ophthalmology practice, with Drs. Dale Gray and Herb Tanzer until summer of 2006. She has also been a consulting optometrist at the Herzig Eye Institute, one of most advanced cataract and laser refractive surgery centers in the world. Dr. Cobean's particular areas of interest are cataract and refractive surgery and diabetic eye disease.

Rebecca Wong

Rebecca Wong

Dr. Rebecca Wong completed her undergraduate studies at McMaster University in Life Sciences. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with Honours from the Doctor of Optometry program and thereafter completed a Primary Care and Ocular Disease residency at NOVA Southeastern University in Florida. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). During her studies, Dr. Wong completed her external clinical rotation at the Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospital in Kentucky where she developed her passion for ocular disease. She also participated in a volunteer eye care mission trip to Zihuatanejo, Mexico where she performed outreach ocular health exams. During her residency, she developed special interests in treating and managing all varieties of ocular disease including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cornea and retinal diseases. She was also involved in clinical research projects and has presented academic posters at multiple optometric conferences. She has also lectured at the American Optometric Association (AOA). Dr. Wong has served as a clinical instructor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. Alan Ng

Alan Ng

Dr. Alan Ng attended the University of Western Ontario and earned his Bachelors of Medical Science in 2010. Upon completion, Dr. Ng began his Master’s thesis at the Centre for Ocular Research & Education at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science (UWSOVS). Dr. Ng has published several peer reviewed articles in journals including Optometry and Vision Science (official journal of the American Academy of Optometry), Current Eye Research and the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research. After achieving his Master of Science in 2012, Dr. Ng furthered his education at the UWSOVS and earned his Doctorate of Optometry with Honours Distinction in 2016 and completed a residency in cornea and contact lens in 2017. Dr. Ng is knowledgeable with managing ocular surface conditions such as keratoconus/corneal ectasia and is experienced in fitting orthokeratology lenses for myopia control and rigid/scleral contact lenses for irregularly shaped corneas. In 2017, Dr. Ng became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and was awarded clinical supervisor of the year in 2018. His enthusiasm for teaching and education allows him to continue to share his passion for ocular health and vision care with both his patients and students.
