Our Optometrists
Alice Xiao
Dr. Alice Xiao was born and raised in Edmonton and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta. She then attended the University of Waterloo, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree and made the Dean's List. During her studies, Dr. Xiao completed internships at Mission Eye Care, a contact lens clinic in Calgary, and Eye Associates of Pinellas, a retina clinic in Florida. During her studies, Dr. Xiao also traveled to Durango, Mexico, to provide eye care to over 1,000 patients. Since optometry school, she has taken additional training in advanced procedures, minor surgeries, and laser. She enjoys comprehensive eye care and has a special interest in controlling eye disorders and myopia. Outside of the clinic, you'll find Dr. Xiao hiking with friends or family, at new coffee shops in the area, in the yoga room, or in the kitchen with her hands to work.
Kathleen Thomas
Dr. Kathleen Thomas was born and raised in Sherwood Park, Alberta. She was prescribed her first pair of glasses at age eight, and by high school knew she wanted to be an optometrist. She earned her Bachelor of Science with distinction from the University of Alberta before obtaining her Doctor of Optometry from the Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon, graduating as valedictorian and silver medal recipient. During her education, Katie rotated through a variety of clinics all over North America, including the Washington State School for the Blind, the Lebanon Veterans Affairs hospital in Pennsylvania, a surgical co-management clinic in Colorado, and private practice on Vancouver Island. She’s trained in ocular disease, dry eye management, contact lenses, low vision, and pre-and post-operative care. Dr. Thomas has a special interest in ocular disease, surgical, and low vision. When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Thomas enjoys period dramas, hiking, playing baseball, and eating ice cream (no matter the weather)!
