For more than 25 years, Vision By Design Optometry has been helping Edmonton families protect their vision and maintain lifelong eye health. Originally established as Callingwood Vision Centre, the practice evolved under the leadership of Dr. Sarah Keep, who purchased the clinic in 2011 and transformed it into a modern, patient-focused practice built around customized eye care, advanced technology, and exceptional service.
Today, Vision By Design offers comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages, from routine eye exams and ocular disease management to specialized services including dry eye treatment, myopia management, vision therapy, and concussion rehabilitation. With a dedicated Vision Therapy Centre and an Advanced Dry Eye Clinic, the team provides specialized solutions that are not commonly available in traditional optometry settings.

Vision Therapy Clinic
Neuro-Optometric Vision Therapy is a customized, doctor-supervised program that helps retrain the eyes and brain to work together more effectively. Through targeted exercises, vision therapy can improve eye tracking, focusing, eye teaming, hand-eye coordination, balance, and other visual skills that support reading, learning, sports, and everyday activities for both children and adults.
Vision Therapy Program
A developmental vision assessment is much more comprehensive than a routine eye exam. In addition to evaluating vision and eye health, this in-depth assessment examines the visual skills needed for reading, learning, sports, and everyday activities. The results help identify underlying visual challenges and guide a personalized vision therapy program while providing a baseline to monitor progress over time. Vision Therapy assessments include tests such as:
Visual Monitor Testing
Visual-motor integration is the ability to coordinate visual information with fine motor movements. Difficulties in this area can lead to messy handwriting, poor pencil control, trouble writing within lines, and challenges with tasks requiring fine motor skills, such as using scissors, rulers, or stringing beads.
Visual Perceptual Evaluation
Visual perception is the brain's ability to interpret and make sense of the information received from the eyes. This assessment evaluates important visual processing skills, including visual discrimination, visual memory, visual closure, and other abilities essential for learning and everyday tasks. Visual perceptual evaluations can be performed for patients ages 5 and older.
Laterality and Directionality Testing
Laterality and directionality testing evaluates a child's understanding of left and right, as well as their awareness of direction. Difficulties in these skills can contribute to letter reversals, confusion with directions, and challenges knowing which hand to use or which way to turn.
Visual Motion Hypersensitivity Testing
Visual motion hypersensitivity testing assesses sensitivity to movement in busy visual environments, a common symptom following a concussion. Identifying these visual sensitivities helps guide treatment to reduce symptoms and improve comfort during activities such as driving, shopping, and navigating crowded spaces.
